Cottonwood Day School is the first and only private, non-profit elementary school for students with learning disabilities in the state of Montana. Until recently, parents had limited educational options for students with learning disabilities. Cottonwood Day School has an enrollment of 27 students grades 1-8 with learning disabilities; 90% of whom have co-morbid disabilities including Sensory Processing Disorders, ADD/ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia and Dysgraphia.

The local public school system does its best to provide students with special needs with the necessary supports, however there are some children that just need more. CDS has enrolled students from local communities and neighboring states. Our core belief is that every child regardless of their challenges has the capacity and ability to learn.

Meredith Scully, the founder and executive director developed the current program’s curriculum through careful research of the latest neuro-educational approaches. Not only does Cottonwood Day School provide a specialized curriculum that aligns with Montana state standards, it also provides assessment of current performance and areas of deficit, individualizes the academic plans to meet the unique needs of each student using multi-sensory framework within each content area. There is a small teacher/student ratio along with the incorporation of new technology within the classroom. This program benefits students with a variety of learning disabilities, including but not limited to dyslexia, dyscalculia and dysgraphia, autism, ADHD, and TBI.

Cottonwood Day School is accredited through the National Accreditation with the National Commission for the Accreditation of Special Education Services.
