Agency Guide to Accreditation

Self Study

Eligibility Requirements

To apply for NCASES accreditation or reaccreditation, agencies must meet the following:

Provide special education services to individuals with disabilities 
Operate under clearly defined and identifiable program(s)
Employ staff directly (use of contractors is permitted with directly employed staff in place)
Have at least 2 years of operational history (unless under the oversight of an existing NCASES-accredited agency)
Maintain licensure/approval in good standing from relevant state regulatory bodies

Note: Both nonprofit and for-profit agencies are eligible to apply.

Additional Site Applications

 Applicant agencies are also responsible for travel costs associated with the Site Review Team visit. 

COA Integrated Accreditation Option 

NCASES offers a streamlined integrated accreditation option in partnership with the Council on Accreditation (COA). This coordinated process allows programs to pursue accreditation through both NCASES and COA while minimizing duplication of effort. 

Programs can schedule joint or separate review visits. Agencies choosing this option will receive a 15% discount on COA accreditation fees (note: this discount does not apply in combination with the 25% Sponsoring Organization discount).
